Antique Bronze Plate By Auguste Cain, "Tigresse portant un paon à ses petits"
By Auguste Cain
Located in Greven, DE
Antique bronze plate by the french animal sculptor and medalist Auguste-Nicolas Caïn ( * November 10 1821 in Paris; † August 6 1894). This bronze plate depicts "Tigresse portant un paon à ses petits" - "Tigress carrying a peacock to her cubs", which was the template for one of his sculptures. It should be noted, however, that Auguste Cain also depicted animals in more peaceful attitudes: a partridge family...
