Bruno Romeda

Italian, 1933-2017

Bruno Romeda (1933–2017) was an Italian sculptor renowned for his elemental geometric works in bronze. Born in Brescia, Italy, Romeda divided his time between his home country, France, and New York, developing a distinctive style that focused on the essential forms of the circle, square, and triangle.

His sculptures and functional art pieces—which include tables, seating, and lighting—often begin as arrangements of twigs and rods, later cast in bronze to preserve their organic textures while achieving architectural solidity. Romeda’s work plays with balance, negative space, and projected shadows, embodying a "fossilized nature." His pieces are held in prestigious permanent collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Contemporary Art Museum of Nice.
