The Clown
Located in ALCOY/ALCOI, ES
A talented multidisciplinary artist, mainly focused on abstract, graphic style paintings connected with Urban art. Xavi has been educated in several Spanish and international Academies and Schools. I have always been fascinated by the ease and confidence with which we draw as children. Somehow, I seek to unlearn what I have learned, thus finding a way back to the beginning. Destroy to create. To cross out, to hinder, to cover, to question, to make possible the emergence of something unexpected. To provoke accidents and use chance to my advantage. To flow. Painting that expands towards the limits of the painting. Construction as an exercise of self-discovery. I let myself be impregnated by the environment, by the city and the public space. When I wander I pay special attention to the anonymous artistic manifestations that flourish spontaneously at the sight of the passerby. I document these interactions and keep a personal archive that I consult during the creative process. Silhouettes borrowed from popular culture appear, pushed to the limit of recognizability. Chipped surfaces and semi-deserted industrial areas filled with treasures. I let the painting speak and I listen to it. From the chaos emerge images that I rescue from being drowned in the background. I find them, I don't look for them. I take it as a game. Xavi Ceerre...
