    The story of what happened to Charles Jourdan shoes is one of struggling finances. Starting around 2000, the French footwear company began to see shifting sales patterns and was unable to repay debts owed. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2002, and the Jourdan family sold the company to investment bankers.
