An unusual and stylish Aesthetic Movement flow glaze twin handled vase in the ‘Persian Taste’ by renowned British designer Christopher Dresser (British, 1834 – 1904) for Watcombe, Torquay and dating from around 1885. The red earthenware vase is lightly potted with a round pedestal foot with an unglazed base on a rounded body with a bud shaped neck with raised top with a fold back rim. Ornate scroll handles are applied to either side. Excellent condition measuring 18" x 6 5/8" x 1". Hukin & Heath (active 1855 – 1953) Hukin & Heath was an important British manufacturer, active between 1855 and 1953, specializing in silver and electroplate. The company is best known for its skillfully manufactured reproductions of Persian and Japanese pieces, mainly silver and electroplated wares, that were produced under the guidance of Dr. Christopher Dresser. The production of the Hukin & Heath eastern-like pieces experienced its peak between the 1870s and 1880s. The business was established in 1855 by Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath. The company entered the market as manufacturing silversmiths and electroplaters. The company’s silver mark was entered in 1875 in the Birmingham Assay Office, which was followed by the entry of the mark of the firm’s founders, Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath, in 1879 in the London Assay Office. By that time, Hukin & Heath already had several showrooms at 19 Charterhouse Street, Holborn, and a workshop at Imperial Works, Great Charles Street, Birmingham. As for the company’s trade mark, it combines the initials H & H, standing for Hukin & Heath, that is accompanied by an eagle. One of the brightest pages of Hukin & Heath's history is the time when the company collaborated with Britain’s most famous independent designer, Dr. Christopher Dresser, who promoted and contributed enormously to the British Art Nouveau...

A fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver three piece tea service / set; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver tea service consists of a teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug Each component has an oval rounded form to a plain oval collet foot. The lower portions of the teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl are embellished with embossed fluted ornamentation. The flared upper rim of the cream jug and sugar bowl, and shoulders of the teapot are ornamented with an impressive applied gadroon decorated border. The large teapot is fitted with a domed hinged hallmarked cover, which features further embossed convex fluted decoration. The cover is surmounted by the original carved oval fluted painted wood and sterling silver finial. The teapot retains the original plain angular carved painted wood handle with a carved scroll style thumbpiece.
