Iconic and amazing Art Deco table or desk lamp by Claude-Paz Et Silva, model "Mushroom," manufactured in the 1930s, with gilded brass and copper finishes. The model's name refers to its structure, which consists of a round chromed base from which three rods (between which the switch is located) extend, supporting the dome-shaped or mushroom-shaped shade. Beneath it is a pressed frosted glass diffuser bearing the brand's signature. Claude-Paz & Silva The Claude-Paz & Silva company was founded in 1933. It resulted from the merger of Claude Lumière, founded in 1930 by his nephews Georges (1870-1960) and André Claude (1900-1950), and Paz & Silva, founded in 1900. André Claude assumed the presidency of the company. They manufactured household appliances and advertising signs using neon lights...

Questions About Claude Furniture
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 7, 2024
Claude Monet is important because he was a pioneer of the Impressionist art movement. Instead of portraying landscapes and the human form in an exacting realistic manner, Monet sought to capture how he saw the world in motion, focusing on color, texture and the effects of lighting. His paintings and other works created by Impressionist artists significantly influenced other styles such as Cubism, Fauvism and more. Shop an assortment of Impressionist art on 1stDibs.

Claude Monet was known for his contributions to the Impressionist art movement. His fascination with how the eye sees led him to produce landscapes that use color and texture to convey the play of light in environments, and he often painted locations repeatedly in different weather conditions and at varying times of day. The Artist's Garden at Giverny, Water Lily Pond, Woman with a Parasol and Impression, Sunrise are among his most famous works. Christo and Jeanne-Claude wrapped things as a way of creating art. They took everyday objects and bound them in order to take away their functionality. In addition, they sought to preserve the items, similarly to the way the Ancient Egyptians did mummies. You'll find a variety of Christo and Jeanne-Claude art on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
Christo and Jeanne-Claude, best known for their L’Arc de Triomphe, wrapped art piece in Paris, used recyclable polypropylene fabric for the wrapping.
