Pair Of Vintage Armchairs 1970s Sormani Production
By Claudio Salocchi, Sormani
Located in Roma, IT
Pair Of Vintage Armchairs Sormani Production has been realized in Italy in the 1970s. Wood and white leather. Dimensions: 90 x 80 x 65 cm. Very good conditions. Claudio Salocchi (Milan, 1934 – 2012). Salocchi was an Italian industrial and furniture designer and architect. He graduated as an architect at the Politecnico di Milano. Claudio Salocchi produced numerous furniture and lighting designs, and, in parallel, spent much time and effort researching different applications of aluminum alloys, optimizing furniture and layout heights for work and home environments, and using new and unfamiliar configurations that would not compromise the practicality of the piece. In 1960, Claudio Salochi designed his iconic Revolving bookcase for Sormani furniture maker. In 1965 he founded his design shop, and in 1967 formalized what would be a prolific partnership with Sormani, for whom he went on and designed, among others the Palla polyurethane chair...

Loveseat Sofa by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani Italy, c 1970, Signed
By Sormani, Claudio Salocchi
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This newly reupholstered loveseat sofa by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani, circa 1970s, features a graceful chrome frame with nubby white bouclé fabric. Signed with 1960s/ 1970s Sormani label as shown in photo gallery. *Note, we have the matching pair of club chairs available in another listing. The graceful frame shares a design quality with Cassina's LC2 / LC3 design by Le Corbusier, as they are 'buckets of cushions' in similar fashion and comfort. However this Sormani sofa features some unique subtle details, such as the slight "twist" in the rear legs (see photos). Signed with a Sormani label, this particular rare design is attributed to Claudio Salocchi. While there were several other famous designers who created works for Sormani in this time period, the style best matches Salocchi's work. For collectors looking for something unique and rare within a collection of 1960s/ 1970s Italian designs, this pair two-seater couch is an amazing opportunity. This Cassina LC2 / LC3 loveseat...

Acerbis Free System Sofa by Claudio Salocchi
By Claudio Salocchi, Acerbis
Located in Brooklyn, NY
In 1973, Claudio Salocchi designed Free System: a system of padded furniture deriving from the concept of “operated flooring”, or tatami, where the padded units could be placed freely side by side. With its completely modular and sectional elements and from the perspective of an optimal use of space, we can view Free System as the embodiment of the modern house utopia. A programme of padded furniture that goes beyond the sofa model, Free System presents a series of elements (tatami, pouf and seat with different and interchangeable backrests) that make up a modular system that can be arranged in a variety of combinations. Available elements _ seat module with curved backrest: L100 D100 H74, seat H39 cm; _ seat module with inclined backrest: L100 D100 H74, seat H39 cm; _ pouf module...
