Floor Standing Mirrors, 'Foreign Bodies - Arrival STYX - by Collin Velkoff'
By Collin Velkoff
Located in Amsterdam, NL
This Mirror is the continuation of the Second Phase of Foreign Bodies entitled ‘Arrival’. This phase takes its name and inspiration from asteroids, moons, and celestial bodies within our solar system. The mirror is not intended to be a pristine mirror, but a mirror that slightly distorts the image from a distance, and the closer the view gets to the mirror the more in focus the reflection becomes. That is why instead of using a traditional mirror...

Sculpted Side Table, Human Element III, Collin Velkoff
By Collin Velkoff
Located in Geneve, CH
Human element, Excavation III, 2017 Granite and gypsum cement Measures: 25 x 21 x 75 cm. Edition - Unique work ‘Human Element’ is a project that explores the influence material has on the human condition and how our consciousness is derived from our relationship with materials. By using cement and anchoring forms to stone, he wants to create a sense of familiarity and comfort. Through the manipulation of form, balance, and texture, Collin Townsend Velkoff wants his sculptures to convey a feeling of unease and tension which communicates our relationship with materials and our dependency on the environment. For these sculptures, he has developed a sand casting technique that allows him to cast unique cement forms onto organic stone forms buried beneath the sand. After the cement cures the two materials are locked together and the object is then dug out by hand. Stones are selected from nature and construction sites, these stones dictate the shape, color, and forms on the cement pieces that will cast onto the stones. Each piece is unique.
