Cyrus Afsary studied art under the strict discipline of the Russian Realist style of painting, graduating with two degrees. He has won numerous awards, including the Best of Show at the C M Russell show of Original Western Art and the Exceptional Merit Award from the National Arts Club at the 1986 Pastel Society of America show. Afsary has also received gold and silver medals from the National Academy of Western Art and was the first recipient of the coveted Lougheed Memorial Award. Afsary won the Painting Award for mystical Transformation at the Buffalo Bill Art Show in 2006 and also shared in the choice award. In 2007, he was awarded the Best of Show at the Eiteljorg Museum and in 2009 at the Charles Russell Museum, he received the staff choice award, for "Entrance to Shrine” and in 2010 the Williams Award for Collectors’ reserve at the Gilcrease Museum, Oklahoma. Afsary is an artist /member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He participates annually in the Prix de West Invitational and the Masters of the American West Exhibition at the Autry Museum in CA. The Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, IN and also the Buffalo Bill show in Cody Wyoming. Afsary was featured in the 2002 Gilcrease Museum Rendezvous in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group.

Romantic cartoonist, especially for the foreign market, and also a gymnast.
Cartoonist linked to Editorial Bruguera and its agency Creaciones Editoriales. She got her start drawing girls' or adventure comics in Stories and the Sissi Graphic Novel Supplement. Much of her work from the 1960s was aimed at the European market for young women's magazines through the Selecciones Ilustradas agency. Anecdotally, he collaborated with Marvel Comics, drawing a romantic comic based on a script by Stan Lee for the title My Love (later republished in Our Love Story), credited there as Enrique Monserratt.
He retired from comics in the 1980s to focus on painting.
He was also an Olympic gymnast, a member of the Barcelona Gymnastics Center and the Barcino Tennis Club. The present work is a spectacular jewel-like canvas by Amigoni, rich in delicate pastel colors, most likely a modello for an altarpiece either lost or never painted. In it the Madonna stands firmly upon a cloud in the heavens, her Child resting on a delicate veil further supported by a cloud, as he gently wraps his arm around his mother’s neck. One of the leading artists in Genoa during the second half of the seventeenth century, Domenico Piola came from a successful family of artists, renowned for their many illusionistic ceiling programs throughout Genoese churches and palaces. A prolific draughtsman and painter, Domenico oversaw an extremely productive studio. In addition to his collaborations with numerous other artists, Domenico also provided many designs for book illustrations and prints that circulated throughout Europe, earning him international exposure and high acclaim in his own day.
As Dr. Anna Orlando has indicated (written communication), the present work is an early work by Piola, datable from the late 1640s. At this time the young artist came strongly under the influence of Castiglione and Valerio Castello, while admiring the works of Giulio Cesare Procaccini. Piola’s works from this period are exuberant and fluid, and the artist’s love of portraying children is evident from the angels and putti that populate both his altarpieces and more intimate paintings.
