Rare Art Deco Patinated Copper Pendant Chandelier, Eagle Relief and Etched Glass
Located in Lisse, NL
Copper and glass Arts & Crafts chandelier with original fine copper 'chain' & original canopy. With early 20th century lighting being one of our specialities, finding this rare and extraordinary pendant more than made our day. This rare and striking Art Deco pendant chandelier is a masterful example of early 1900 decorative arts, crafted in richly patinated copper with an extraordinary high-relief depiction of a four eagles with outstretched wings, the eagles imbue the piece with a strong sense of symmetry, motion, and symbolic presence. The sculptural detailing reflects the bold aesthetics of Art Deco, where natural motifs were often rendered in rich, luxurious materials. Suspended from four decorative chains that attach to a domed ceiling canopy, the chandelier features a central frosted glass globe intricately etched with floral motifs, surrounded by four smaller rounded bulbs subtly integrated into the copper body. This unique antique pendant light fixture will bring the kind of pure class and beauty that you don't find anymore in this day and age. Thanks to the hook inside the copper canopy, mounting this stylish and rare ceiling lamp is child's play. Mind you, this all handcrafted fixture from the earliest years of the 1900s will arrive rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the country where it will go to so it will definitely be ready for you to use and enjoy. Symbolism of the Eagle in Art Deco: The eagle has been a potent symbol across cultures .. representing strength, clarity of vision, independence, and power. In the Art Deco period, its use reflected a fascination with bold, heroic forms and classical symbolism reimagined through modern geometry. The presence of four eagles, facing outward on each side, adds an architectural rhythm and emphasizes watchfulness and balanc .. making this chandelier not just a source of light, but a profound sculptural object. Whether placed in a grand hallway, above a dining table, or in a design-forward living space, this chandelier commands attention and speaks to both artistic heritage and timeless taste.
