Dan Ostermiller Paintings

American, b. 1956

Dan Ostermiller was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the son of a famed taxidermist. He decided early in his life to forego working in the family business for a more flexible form of self-expression. However, the experience he had gained under his father's tutelage influenced Ostermiller's career and was ultimately responsible for his interest in becoming a sculptor of animals as well as for his complete understanding of animal form. Ostermiller has enlarged the scope of his knowledge of wildlife with expeditions to Alaska, Africa and all corners of the West. Ostermiller's sculpture conveys a mood and an emotion. Each bronze engages the viewer, encouraging the touch of a hand and inviting further contemplation. Since his first show in 1980, Ostermiller has rapidly achieved professional and public recognition. In 2003, he became president of the National Sculpture Society. His sculpture has won numerous awards and honors and has been included in exhibitions and one-person shows around the country. Included in the noteworthy list is the annual Society of Animal Artists exhibition; the annual National Sculpture Society exhibition; the Eiteljorg Invitational at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian and Western Art in Indianapolis, Indiana; and the Fleischer Museum's 1994 retrospective exhibition in Scottsdale, Arizona, recognizing Ostermiller for his exceptional talent and numerous accomplishments.

Antique 19th Century Norwegian Artists Oil Painting Pastoral Windmill Shepherd

Located in Stockholm, SE

Attributed to Morten Müller (1828-1911) and Olaf Christopher Dahl (1842-1895), signed lower right, this extraordinary antique oil painting captures the timeless beauty of 19th century Norwegian pastoral landscape. This exceptional collaborative masterpiece, painted circa 1870-1880 during the golden age of Norwegian landscape art, depicts an enchanting countryside scene where a young shepherd boy guides his cattle to a tranquil watering hole. The composition unfolds like a gentle poem of rural life, with lush vegetation embracing rolling hills while an ancient windmill stands majestically on the distant hillside, creating striking focal point and masterful perspective. Rich oil painting technique reveals the artists' shared vision of Norway's serene countryside, where peaceful pastoral tranquility below contrasts dramatically with gathering storm clouds above. This romantic Norwegian landscape tradition showcases nuanced brushwork and atmospheric effects that exemplify the peak of Scandinavian art movement. Both renowned Norwegian artists are prominently featured in National Museum Oslo permanent collection, confirming their significant contribution to Nordic artistic heritage. This rare antique oil painting represents sublime testament to 19th century collaborative artistry, where two masters united their talents to create lasting vision of Norway's natural beauty. Size app.: 46 x 69 cm (roughly 18.1 x 27.2 in), with frame 60 x 84 cm cm (roughly 23.6 x 33.1 in). Good condition with wear, tiny losses to paint in minor areas and craquelure. Unique Pop Art Painting on Slate, Electric Light Bulb Downtown NYC Art Kilgour

Located in Surfside, FL

SCOTT KILGOUR (b. 1960): ELECTRIC LIGHT BULB Etched slate, 1992, signed ''Scott Kilgour'', titled and dated on the reverse. Provenance: Camilla and Earl McGrath Collection. Scott Kilgour is a British Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1960. Their work was featured in several exhibitions at key galleries and museums, including the Elga Wimmer PCC and the Howl! Happening. Encouraged by the first curator of 20th Century Art at the Metropolitan Museum, Henry Geldzahler, to move to New York City in the early 80's, Kilgour experienced first hand the frenetic contemporary American art scene. By the end of the decade, after absorbing the eclectic New York sensibility, Scott's lines and curves had evolved due to contact with Pop Art, Minimalism, New Wave, Graffiti and modern dance. His work was further influenced by Edmund Carpenter, a prestigious anthropologist, who galvanized his interest in continuous line drawing and knotwork designs. Gallery exhibits in the ‘80s included 56 Bleecker Street Gallery, DIA Foundation and Holly Solomon Gallery. In the 90's, Kilgour would further expand his body of knot-work designs, embarking on a decade-long study exploring the spatial relationship of continuous line drawing in Scottish Celtic Interlace. Kilgour's linear style is grounded in Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Art Nouveau aesthetic. This exploratory culminated in a 1999 exhibition at the Mackintosh Museum, Glasgow School of Art, as part of the Glasgow UK City for Architecture & Design celebration. Currently, Scott is working on a botanical body of work inspired while drinking a glass of rose in Provence, surrounded by a blossoming white French rose garden. Flowers are an ideal subject for Scott’s linear execution, as no two images are the same based on rosette whorl and luminous petals radiating from a single node. Kilgour attended the Glasgow School of Art and has been featured in media outlets including Interview Magazine, New York Magazine and Elle Décor. Select Group Exhibitions 2019 MM Gallery, New York, Regarding Tom & Henry - Tom Slaughter, Stephen Hannock, Robert Harms, Scott Kilgour, Ray Charles White. 2018 Elga Wimmer Gallery, New York, Bloom / Wilt / Bloom - Donald Baechler, Crash, Alex Katz, Donald Sultan, Scott Kilgour, Andy Warhol. 2017 Howl Arts, Arturo Vega...
