David Pearce Art

British, b. 1963
David Pearce is a British painter. After travelling widely throughout the 1980s, Pearce returned to settle and work near Padstow in Cornwall. As a self-taught artist, he sought inspiration from St Ives artists including Patrick Heron, Alfred Wallis and Roger Hilton in developing his primitive style. Pearce combines a naive spontaneity of composition with exciting use of colour, drawing on elements of the surrounding Cornish coastline. "My work explores the notion of the ephemeral and the fragility of existence in both a personal and wider context. In these fast paced virtual times, I paint as it feels innate, constant, tangible. I try to work with a primitive directness, using seemingly simple compositions and just enough complexity and confusion to hold the attention. The paintings are deliberately intimate in size, with no ego or grandeur. I celebrate the innocence of awkward lines and nervous tension," The Artist, 2018 His work has been widely exhibited in Europe and the USA. Recent exhibitions include The John Moores Painting Prize (2018), The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2015 - 2017), "Accidental Genius" Milwaukee Art Museum (USA, 2012) and The London Art Fair (2011-2016). Between 2002-2006 his work was also featured at The Outsider Art Fair, New York.

View from the Train: Cityscape Oil Painting, View of Brooklyn

By Patty Neal

View from the Train, 2019 24" X 40" x 1", oil on canvas This contemporary oil painting depicting a metropolitan view is the work of realist painter Patty Neal. The painting offers an intimate view of the city, as seen from a window, as it peeks from behind two metal structures. The dark browns and bright golds beautifully compliment the dusty blue, gray sky. Neal works highlight everyday city scenes, utilitarian infrastructure, and industrial or electrical apparatus. Artist statement: A life is an accumulation of experiences: visual, emotional and mental. By compartmentalizing these snippets of life we create boundaries. The focus of my work for many years has been the exploration of these various life aspects and how they are bound together or bound from each other. My process is often literally composed of boundaries. I make a painting by putting together multiple panels, or I segment a single panel into separate visual spaces. The works are made up of pieces or elements of city and landscape. While exploring the concepts of boundaries I play with visual “reality.” Sometimes I combine images that are upside down with those that are not and juxtapose images from different contexts. Literal boundaries, such as walls fences, expanses of water and highway median strips are also used. My intent is to invite viewers to look beyond these boundaries to see the possibilities of a connected whole. San Marco, Venice — Cubist Italian Cityscape Painting in Blue and Ochre, Acrylic

Located in PÉRIGUEUX, FR

San Marco, Venise Acrylic on Canvas 60 x 49 cm Signed lower right and on the reverse In San Marco, Venise, Grégoire Mathias translates the timeless elegance of Venice’s architecture into his distinctive language of Diachronic Cubism — a style that captures not only multiple spatial perspectives but also the passage of time within a single composition. The familiar arches and reflections of the Venetian lagoon dissolve into an intricate interplay of geometric planes and shifting tones of turquoise, ivory, and sand. The result is a composition that feels both architectural and fluid — an echo of light dancing on water, where memory and presence coexist. Mathias’s mastery lies in how he balances structure and emotion, transforming an iconic cityscape into a meditation on rhythm, space, and movement. Perfect For: Collectors of modern Cubism • Venice and Italy enthusiasts • Contemporary interiors with neutral or coastal tones • Living rooms or entryways seeking architectural depth and movement Collector’s Insight: This painting belongs to Mathias’s Venetian Series, where he explores the interplay between history and modernity through cubist fragmentation. Its soothing palette and elegant balance make it a perfect statement for collectors drawn to contemporary reinterpretations of classic European subjects.
