Presented is an amazing pair of 1980s large domed button earrings by French designer Dominique Aurientis. Beautifully cast and richly plated in 18K gold, the earrings nod to the Etruscan style. The earrings are intentionally irregular in its round shape like ancient jewelry. Each measures approximately 1.75 inches in diameter and is .75 of an in high without the clip. On the back bar with clip is a around signature plaque inscribed Dominique Aurientis and Paris. Beautiful gold patina and very very fine condition with small spots of wear on underside of dome.
Dominique Aurientis is a French fashion designer who graduated from the Sorbonne. She started her career working at Dior and then moved on to fashion houses Chanel, Lanvin, Ferragamo, Celine, Givenchy and Emilio Pucci. In 1986 she went out on her own and opened her own her accessories and fashion brand Dominique Aurientis that gained immediate international attention and wide media coverage. Dominique Aurientis jewelry designs are unique, innovative and rooted with a classical sensibility often incorporating elements of nature. Her pieces were sold by the better stores of Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Harrods to name a few.
