A.G. Dufva
was a prominent 19th-century Swedish silver and silver plate manufacturer founded by Anders Gabriel Dufva in 1847 in Stockholm. Known for high-quality plated household items, cutlery, and decorative pieces, the company became a royal purveyor and operated until 1936. :
Founded by Anders Gabriel Dufva (1822–1897), a trained goldsmith who established his workshop on Drottninggatan.
He was one of Sweden’s first manufacturers of silver-plated items, often producing intricate items in Art Nouveau style.
It is stamped A.G.Dufva N.S. X which refers to Axel Gabriel Dufva, the mark "N.S." stands for Nysilver, which is Swedish for "new silver" or nickel silver (an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc, usually silver-plated).
The "X" in your query likely refers to a date letter or specific stamp.
Legacy: After 1933, the firm was incorporated into Guldsmedsaktiebolaget (GAB) but continued producing items under the name until 1936.
Pieces from A.G. Dufva are highly sought after by collectors of antique Swedish silverware...
