An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian glass and silver mounted claret jug; part of our silver mounted glass collection. This exceptional antique Victorian glass and sterling silver and glass claret jug has a circular rounded form onto a circular spreading foot. The upper portion of the glass body is fitted with the original hallmarked sterling silver mount embellished with an incurved shaped border. The plain domed hallmarked hinged cover is encircled with a band of applied bead decoration and surmounted with an impressive swept, knopped bead decorated finial. This Victorian claret jug is fitted with an S-scroll handle featuring a plain scrolling thumb piece. The glass body of the jug is embellished with an exceptional acid etched illustration depicting a putto entangled with flowing ribbons, playing a stylized percussion triangle whilst standing on the back of a moth style insect. In art and culture, a putto (plural: putti) is a chubby male child, usually nude and occasionally bearing wings. Condition The mount of this antique silver and glass claret jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The mount has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The plain glass body of the jug is in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount and part hallmarks struck to the interior of the cover are very clear. Dimensions Length from back of handle to lip 15.3cm/6". This exceptional vintage sterling silver tea set consists of a coffee jug, teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl. Each piece of this fine set has a plain rectangular cushion shaped form onto a stepped collet style base with Art Deco bracket style feet. The surface of this impressive vintage Art Deco tea set is plain and unembellished, with an applied reed decorated border to the upper portions. The coffee jug and teapot are fitted with hallmarked hinged covers and retain the original Art Deco style painted carved wood finials; the hinge to each piece is ornamented with an applied pendant drop design. An exceptional, fine and impressive, pair of antique Victorian English cast sterling silver pepperettes / peppers modelled in the form of owls - boxed; an addition to our collectable silver collection These exceptional antique Victorian cast sterling silver peppers are realistically modelled in the form of owls/owlets. These antique owl pepper shakers have been embellished with details reproducing the birds' plumage and anatomical features. Each piece retains the original, hallmarked push fit cover/head ornamented to the upper portion with pierced 'pepper' holes. The cover of these silver owl shaped peppers are further ornamented with the original bead eyes. The interior of each piece retains the original gilding. These fine examples of antique silverware are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior and secures with a hinged catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Page, Keen & Page, Goldsmiths, Plymouth'.
