Born in Enfield, England in 1905, prominent printmaker, illustrator, painter and author Eileen Alice Soper is best known for her depictions of wildlife and children at play. Nurtured by her artist father George Soper (1870-1942), four of her prints were included in an exhibition in Los Angeles when she was only fourteen and two of those were later hung in the Royal Academy in London. Queen Mary purchased two of Soper's etchings in 1924. Soper was a member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters and a founding member of the Society of Wildlife Artists. She created nearly 180 etchings in the early 1930's, some of which were used in a china series for children by Paragon China...
