F.B. Rogers Silver Co. Lidded Silverplate Ice Bucket with Milk Glass Liner
By F.B. Rogers Silver Co.
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This elegant lidded ice bucket was produced by the esteemed F.B. Rogers Silver Company, a respected American silver manufacturer founded in 1883. The piece features a classic silver-plated exterior with restrained neoclassical lines, scroll-form side handles, and a domed lid topped with a sculptural acorn finial. Inside, the bucket retains its original milk glass liner, designed to insulate ice while protecting the silverplate from moisture—an increasingly rare and highly desirable feature.
The base is stamped “F.B. Rogers Silver Co.” along with a crown emblem and the date 1883, which references the company’s founding year, not the production date. The number 6599 or 8599 is a model or pattern number, used internally by the manufacturer. This stamp confirms the piece is silverplate (not sterling) and authentic to F.B. Rogers’ mid-20th-century production, when the firm was especially known for refined barware and entertaining pieces.
With its substantial weight, timeless silhouette, and practical liner, this ice bucket bridges function and decorative appeal, making it ideal for both use and display.

Hallmarked Silver Plated Keepsake Box, Sheffield, UK, circa 1900
Located in Colorado Springs, CO
Offered is a stunning silver plated keepsake box dating to 1900, with associated hallmark. This small box includes a wooden interior with two slots and a blank square on top where initials could have been engraved. A well maintained, elegant piece, this antique silver box is an excellent addition to any silver or home decor collection.
Trinket or keepsake boxes have taken on many forms since their first conception in ancient times. However their purpose remains the same; to store jewelry and other items precious to the owner. Originally, these boxes were used specifically for jewelry. These were in common use as early as 5000 BC in Ancient Egypt, when the majority of Egyptians, both male and female, wore jewelry. Boxes were used to keep these gemstone encrusted items safe. In Ancient Rome, jewelry was a status symbol. Rings and brooches were utilized to represent ones status in society. Again, boxes were needed for security and storage purposes. Finding early examples of these are quite rare.
Victorian and Edwardian examples of trinket boxes are far more common. This is because owning jewellery was a luxury until the Victorian era- let alone possessing so much a box was needed to store it all. Fine jewelry and other items became available to the masses after the industrial revolution due to the reduction in production costs. This led to a demand for trinket boxes, which were much smaller than jewelry boxes and therefore better suited to the needs of the middle class who did not yet possess an abundance of jewelry.
In Victorian households, collectables and other items of interested were also stashed inside these boxes. This is why they are known as trinket or keepsake boxes, rather than just jewelry boxes, although of course jewelry was also stored in them. Trinket boxes were produced in large numbers around this time. Many were lined with colored plush or velvet or rich wood. More elaborate designs had interior divisions and trays for rings and other pieces of jewellery. It was also common to see trinket boxes so small that they could only contain one item, such as a single ring. Ornate exteriors were created to reflect the value of the trinket boxes contents.
The Edwardian era saw the introduction of new styles of trinket box. These included small circular or oblong boxes...

Questions About F.B. Rogers Silver Co. Furniture
- Are silver trays worth anything?1 Answer1stDibs ExpertOctober 24, 2024Yes, some silver trays are worth something. If your tray is solid silver rather than silver plate, you can sell it on the scrap market and get the going rate for sterling or fine silver precious metals. Some trays may be worth more due to their age, style, maker and condition. Some makers that collectors often focus on include Georg Jensen, Tiffany & Co., Cristofle, Buccellati, Reed & Barton and Gorham. To get a rough idea of how much your tray may be worth, consider consulting a certified appraiser or knowledgeable antique dealer. On 1stDibs, find a large selection of silver trays.
- 1stDibs ExpertOctober 24, 2024Yes, 1847 Roger Bros. silverware may be worth something. However, any value usually comes from the style, type, age and condition of pieces rather than their materials. This is because Roger Bros. specialized in silver plate rather than solid silver wares. As a result, most Roger Bros. pieces contain very little pure silver. A certified appraiser or knowledgeable antique dealer can be of assistance when valuing Roger Bros. pieces. On 1stDibs, find an assortment of Roger Bros. silver wares.
- Is Rogers silver worth anything?1 Answer1stDibs ExpertFebruary 21, 2024Yes, some Rogers silver is worth something. Compared to original selling prices, many Rogers pieces have increased in value, but generally, complete sets of silverware tend to sell for more than individual pieces. The age, style, rarity and condition will impact the selling price of Rogers silver. It’s also very important to note that there are many silver firms with “Rogers” in their name (F.B. Rogers Silver Co., Wm. Rogers Mfg. Co., C. Rogers & Brothers, and more). A certified appraiser or knowledgeable antiques dealer can give you a more specific estimate of a particular piece's value as well as some history on the maker. On 1stDibs, shop a selection of antique silver.
- 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 21, 2024Yes, Rogers silverware is real silver, but how much silver the maker's pieces contain varies. The vast majority of Rogers silverware features silver plating, so it is predominantly a base metal with only a thin layer of silver over top. To determine the content of a particular piece, look for hallmarks on its surface. Then, use trusted online resources or work with an antiques specialist to determine the meaning of the marks. Collectors should note that there are in fact many silver firms with “Rogers” in their name (F.B. Rogers Silver Co., Wm. Rogers Mfg. Co., C. Rogers & Brothers, and more). Shop a collection of antique silverware on 1stDibs.
- 1stDibs ExpertMay 14, 2024Yes, F.B. Rogers silver is real silver. However, most pieces produced by the American silversmith are not solid silver. The company is best known for manufacturing silverplate, which sees a thin layer of genuine silver applied to objects made of base metals. Find antique F.B. Rogers Silver Company furniture and decor for sale on 1stDibs.
