Gaston Prunier Paintings
French, 1863-1927
Gaston Prunier was born in Le Havre in Normandy in 1864. He studied at the École des beaux-arts du Havre where he was a pupil of Charles Lhullier, then was admitted to the École des beaux-arts de Paris as a student of of Alexandre Cabanel.
The workshop Gaston Prunier was located on 24 rue Dombasle in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. From 1891, he exhibited at the Parisian gallery Le Barc de Boutteville. He presented his engravings at the Salon of 1893, and, in the following year, was admitted to the Salon des Cent and the Salon des Indépendants , where he exhibited until 1907. Between 1898 and 1925, Gaston Prunier also participated each year in the exhibitions of the National Society of Fine Arts. He showed his works in Le Havre and in many Parisian galleries, with solos shows at the Samuel Bing Gallery, Paris (1899), The Serrurier Gallery, Paris (1905): "Gaston Prunier: landscapes of Paris, Brittany , Le Havre, the Pyrenees " and The Allard Gallery, Paris (1908): "Views of the Thames',
Internationally, he exhibited at the renowned Venice Biennale of 1905, as well as at the 9th Internationale Kunstaustellung in Munich, and in the Exhibition of French Artworks at the Museum of Stuttgart.Works by Gaston Prunier are in the collections of the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée Carnavalet, the Cabinet of drawings at the Louvre, in the Museums of Le Havre, Toulouse, Dijon, as well as in the National Gallery of Rumania. to
