This great mantel in made in stoneware and oak was designed 20th century by the Maison Gentil et Bourdet.
The fireplace is framed by a strong sandstone decorated with large Egyptian beetles in high relief and a leafy motif. Above the shelf, on the overmantel is a large and beautiful finial. On each sides of the floral medallion, a knotted rope pattern extends down the sides of the entablature. The overmantel shape is reaching to an Egyptian-inspired pyramid and is decorated with a plain sandstone tile front. It is an excellent example of the craftsmanship and innovation of the Maison Gentil et Bourdet founded in 1904 by two architects, which is widely recognized for its terracotta ornaments...
