A wonderfully composed and colored, limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino. This print, which is titled "Profile/ Portrait of Young Girl in Kimono", is signed and sealed/ stamped in red at the lower right. It was created in 1957 and comes from a limited edition of 100 prints (the exact number of this particular print is likely listed in pencil below the matt but we have not removed the print from the frame to confirm the exact number). An exquisite and rare/hard-to-find work. The detail in the girl's kimono is quite beautiful. Junichiro Sekino was largely considered, along with Kiyoshi Saito, to be one of Japan's paramount 20th-century master print artists. Both were prominent leaders of the Sosaku Hanga movement. Sekino's works can be found in many museums including: The Museum of Modern Art, N. Y., the Art Institute Chicago, the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, the British Museum, and the Portland Art Museum among many other Fine museums throughout the world. A version of this image can be found in the Harvard Art...

This elegant framed horse print depicts “George Frederick,” a finely rendered equine portrait originally issued as Plate 18 in a 19th-century sporting or stud reference series. The composition showcases a richly colored chestnut horse in classical side profile, posed with lifted foreleg in the traditional stance favored for documenting prized bloodstock and conformation. The print is executed in warm brown and russet tones with subtle shading, emphasizing musculature, coat sheen, and anatomical precision. The artist’s approach reflects the golden age of British sporting art, where horses were treated with the same reverence as aristocratic portrait subjects. The work is presented in a decorative, patterned gilt frame with a repeating textile-like motif in gold and deep brown tones, likely a later 20th-century custom framing that complements the warmth of the image beautifully. A neutral mat with white inner liner provides balance and visual depth. The backing bears a label from Pirates Alley Picture Frames, Oklahoma City, indicating professional framing. This horse print is ideal for collectors of equestrian art, English sporting décor, or traditional library and study interiors. George Frederick This print references the horse George Frederick rather than the artist’s name, which is typical of 19th-century equestrian plates...

A truly wonderful and extremely rare limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino This print of a pensive young girl dressed in a poncho and hat (likely in Mexico or Central/ South America) is hand pencil signed, sealed/ stamped in red, and numbered (appears to be 12/98 or 19/98) by Sekino. The image features a uniquely sparse composition and rich vibrant colors - very representative of the country this was likely initially conceived in. An exquisite and very rare/hard-to-find work. We have not seen this particular image ever come to the marketplace.
