Georges Lucien Guyot was born on December 10, 1885, in Paris. He died in 1973. He was a 20th century French painter, animal sculptor, engraver and illustrator. He was a student of musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen. He exhibited in Paris, first at the Le Salon des Artistes Français, then at the Société du Salon d'automne. He was invited to the Salon des Tuileries and appeared at the Le Salon des peintres témoins de leur temps. In 1943, the Salon des Indépendants devoted an overall exhibition to him. He worked at the "Bateau-Lavoir" on Rue Ravignan for 52 years, until the fire destroyed his place. He waited for 85 years, in 1970, to see the first exhibition of his works. As a painter, he was not limited to animals. He worked during his young age on landscapes of the Rouen region, then views of the Ile de France and Montmartre where he lived. He illustrated De Goupil to Louis Margot by Louis Pergaud, and The Book of Beasts called savage André Demaison. All his life, he leaned over the study of animals, whose moving psychology he knew how to understand.

Biography :
Georges Lucien Guyot (1885-1973) known as Georges Guyot was a French animal artist. From an early age, he showed artistic abilities, but the modest conditions of his parents did not allow him to study art. He was doing his apprenticeship with a woodcarver. Guyot then excelled at copying works of the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, but soon he showed a special attraction for nature. This attraction led him to the Jardin des Plantes in Paris where he could study wild animals and translated his observations into sculpture and painting.
As a famous figure of Montmartre, he was the host of the Bateau-Lavoir from the time of Cubism. This painting features a lovely design of a woman getting out of the bath and wiping with a towel. Only a few lines in charcoal and red chalk or sanguine mark the silhouette and posture and capture the model's expression. The red color emphasizes the color of the skin and imbues the lascivious movement. The sketches of the bath towel are only suggested, but they give the whole thing a lot of softness and an incredible illusion of movement.

The artist employed a method known as "sanguine" (red chalk paint) which is red crayon or chalk. The drawing has a blood-red, reddish, or flesh coloration. For centuries, painters from the 15th and 16th centuries, including famous masters like Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo da Vinci, have used it for drawing.
The drawing has an elaborate off-white matte with acrylic glass protection and a modern wood frame with a deep-textured pattern in red and yellow.

"Testa colossale creduta rappresentare la Spagna" (Kolossal head commonly belived to represent Spain) is a wonderful black and white etching on paper, realized by the Italian artist Francesco Cecchini (1790 - 1820 ca), after Agostino Tofanelli (Lucca 1770 - Rome 1834) , as the inscriptions on plates on lower margins report “Agostino Tofanelli delineò/ Francesco Cecchini incise Roma”.
This original print is numbered on plate in Roman numerals on higher margin: “Tom II /Tav XX" and is a plate from the series "Illustrazioni de'Monumenti scelti Borghesiani già esistenti nella Villa sul Pincio () date ora per la prima volta in luce dal cav. Gio. Gherardo De Rossi e da Stefano Piale sotto la guida di Vincenzo Feoli", by Ennio Quirino Visconti, published by Stamperia de Romanis in Rome, 1821.
This old master’s original prints representing a precious piece of the Borghese collection is in excellent conditions with a usual yellowing of the paper at the edges, some light signs of the time (some little wormholes on the left margin beyond the marginal line of the matrix and a thinning of the paper along the margins) but with fresh impression.

This collection in two volumes is a beautifully detailed catalog of classical sculptures collected by Prince Borghese (1730-1800) in his Villa on the Pincio. Ennio Quirino Visconti (1751 - 1818) wrote the texts that accompany the large branches depicting. To these writings, which were found and made available by the son of the illustrious archaeologist, the publishers added only a few illustrations relating to some minor monument of which copper had already been engraved.
The engraved title-plate are signed by draughtsmen like Agostino Tofanelli, Stefano Tofanelli, Bernardino Nocchi, Domenico de Angelis or Teodoro Matteini, and by engravers Pietro Fontana Veneto, P.
