Giovanni Colacicchi Paintings
1900-1992
The origins of Giovanni Colacicchi are tied to a rather important family: his grandmother Germana was a descendant of Caetani della Torre (in fact the artist signed his first works with the double surname Colacicchi Caetani) while his grandfather was the painter Scipione Vannuttelli. The radically catholic environment in which he grew up and the classical studies undertaken in his youth were fundamental, permitting him, in fact, a profound knowledge of religious texts and developing in him a strong interest in literature which accompanied him throughout his entire career.
Of Latium origins, he approached painting after his move to Florence in 1916 entering into contact with Garibaldo Cepparelli, Raffaello De Grada and frequenting the Caffe Giubbe Rosse, meeting place for the intellectual elite, where he met the man he would deem his real master, Francesco Franchetti. Many were his suggestions regarding painting, which ranged from Renaissance artists to Futurists, from Cézanne to Hans von Marées.
Colacicchi was endowed with a multifaceted personality and was always in search of new stimuli, engaging himself in various cultural and social activities. He took part, in fact, in many exhibitions in Italy and abroad, taught at the Academy of Fine Arts and many times fought in defense of the art and of its respect. He maintained friendships with prominent personalities in the art world and critics including Giorgio De Chirico, Libero Andreotti, Renato Guttuso, Carlo Del Bravo and Bernard Berenson, but also of literature like Giuseppe Ungaretti and Eugenio Montale. This inclination of his towards writing, manifested already in adolescence with his choice of a classical high school, accompanied the entire lifetime of Colacicchi, he dedicated himself also to poetic activity and founded in 1924 “La Rivista di Firenze” and in 1926 “Solaria”.to

Joie de Vivre by Ginny Williams Europeany Goldfinch Oil Painting
By Ginny Williams
Located in Atlanta, GA
A celebration of charm and cultural richness, Joie de Vivre by Ginny Williams brings together objects of beauty and a striking European Goldfinch, perched with poise and personality. Painted in oil on a 16 x 16-inch panel, this still life exudes warmth, elegance, and a touch of whimsy. The bird’s vivid red face, golden wing bars, and black markings are hallmarks of the beloved goldfinch—often associated with vitality, joy, and spiritual endurance in European art history.
With its palette of soft neutrals, classic chinoiserie blue-and-white ceramics, and a bold red, white, and blue fan motif, Joie de Vivre feels both traditional and refreshingly modern. The title, meaning “joy of living,” perfectly encapsulates the mood: uplifting, timeless, and thoughtfully composed.
Ideal for collectors of symbolic still life, bird lovers, or designers seeking a small yet story-rich piece, this original painting adds layers of narrative and charm to any space. Offered by Huff Harrington, Joie de Vivre is a radiant moment of visual poetry.
We were immediately drawn to the thoughtfully painted work, the clever titles and the rich, deep hues. And when we got to know the artist, we were equally charmed by her delightful wit, her sensibilities as an artist, her depth of knowledge and her modesty. This one’s got it all and we are honored to represent her.
GC Williams has a BA in art history and began her artistic career as a self-taught artist. She subsequently studied at several classical ateliers including 4 years at the Academy of Realist Art, Boston. Influenced heavily by her studies of and love for the art of the northern European Renaissance, she creates still life paintings that employ chiaroscuro and symbolism to point beyond themselves to more enduring truths. Just as the still life masters of long ago used everyday objects to convey timeless messages pertinent to the culture of the day, Williams’ works often have underlying symbolism in the placement and combination of objects she chooses to paint. With tight renderings and playfulness she attempts to draw the viewer beyond an initial appreciation of a pretty picture into a deeper engagement and understanding of the language of the still life.

View from the Train: Cityscape Oil Painting, View of Brooklyn
By Patty Neal
Located in Hudson, NY
View from the Train, 2019
24" X 40" x 1", oil on canvas
This contemporary oil painting depicting a metropolitan view is the work of realist painter Patty Neal. The painting offers an intimate view of the city, as seen from a window, as it peeks from behind two metal structures. The dark browns and bright golds beautifully compliment the dusty blue, gray sky. Neal works highlight everyday city scenes, utilitarian infrastructure, and industrial or electrical apparatus.
Artist statement:
A life is an accumulation of experiences: visual, emotional and mental. By compartmentalizing these snippets of life we create boundaries. The focus of my work for many years has been the exploration of these various life aspects and how they are bound together or bound from each other. My process is often literally composed of boundaries. I make a painting by putting together multiple panels, or I segment a single panel into separate visual spaces. The works are made up of pieces or elements of city and landscape. While exploring the concepts of boundaries I play with visual “reality.” Sometimes I combine images that are upside down with those that are not and juxtapose images from different contexts. Literal boundaries, such as walls fences, expanses of water and highway median strips are also used. My intent is to invite viewers to look beyond these boundaries to see the possibilities of a connected whole.
