By Giulia Mangani
Located in Boven Leeuwen, NL
Charming porcelain table lamp by the Florentine house of Giulia Mangani, Italy, 1960s-70s: a white porcelain dove perched on a flowering branch, beneath a gilt metal tree with holly-like leaves and small flowers. Marked on the underside.
Design
The dove has finely modelled feathers and sits on a brown branch with green leaves and a pink blossom, on a shaped base in cobalt blue and gold. From the branch grows the gilt metal tree, ending in the lamp fitting. The underside bears the typical Mangani mark: a blue monogram in the style of Sèvres, the red inscription "Modèle et décoration exclusive à la main" and a paper label "ART." with model number. From the 1960s to the 1980s Mangani produced luxury lamps and objects in porcelain with gilt metal, deliberately using French inscriptions and a Sèvres-style mark. Compact and decorative even without a shade.
Condition
Good. No cracks, chips or restorations seen on the porcelain. The gilding of the leaves is well preserved; a few leaves are slightly bent and can easily be bent back. An old label and a slight stain on the underside. Supplied without shade; European wiring; we recommend having the wiring checked by a local electrician before use. Please see the photos for details.
Dimensions: height 31 cm; width including leaves approx. 19 cm; base 14 x 11 cm.
In the interior
Lovely in a Hollywood Regency or classic interior, on a bedside table, a windowsill or a sideboard. With a simple linen shade it becomes modern and calm; with a pleated silk shade, festive.
