Gregory Steele Art

American

Gregory Steele was born and raised in a small western Illinois town twelve miles from the Mississippi river. Since 1969, he has lived in Davenport, Iowa because of the river. Both the river and the surrounding landscape have been a big influence on his art. At the age of 18, Steele became a professional artist as a cartoonist selling works to newspapers in northern Illinois and later went on to become a freelance illustrator. In 1992, he began dropping commercial clients to devote more time to his passion for creating paintings. Steele uses both color and detail to create a depth that pulls one into the painting. His main objective is to create a four-dimensional image on a two-dimensional plane, giving the illusion that one can walk into the painting to see what is on the other side. Steele’s paintings often stir a memory of a place or an event in the life of the viewer.

"Birch, " Oil Paint on Olive Board
By Bruno Surdo
Located in Chicago, IL
Chicago-based fine art painter Bruno A. Surdo is classically trained in drawing and oil painting in the tradition of Renaissance masters. With strong command of the human form, Surdo creates dynamic compositions of people and places that communicate a rich commentary on the world around him. Depicting trees from personal encounters, Surdo’s latest body of work entitled “Tree Spirits” takes us on a foray into the forest, where leaves, branches and burls express something deeply personal. Applying his mastery of figurative realism to the natural world, he experiments with form and texture to uncover the intangible spirits of trees. Entitled “Birch,” this small-scale oil painting depicts a young birch sapling against an olive wood board. Restricting the composition to only a portion of the trunk, Surdo focuses on qualities that make the tree memorable - its narrow trunk...

In 2017 two individual exhibition of the artists took place - at the Regional Museum in Kozienice Palace and at the Museum of Western Mazowsze in Zyrardow. Magdalena Spasowicz has been spending every single moment on painting for many years now. Most of her paintings are monochromatically coloured landscapes, of places where eye cheers soul with a sight close to heart, known and well remembered. French painting of Pissarro and Utrillo has been a very important inspiration for Magdalena Spasowicz. A desire to still-frame every moment when the artist meets Nature and beloved places is an imperative, which obliges to come back to canvas and paint, paint with a total devotion. The artistry of the places represented in the paintings of Magdalena...
