Pair of Outdoor Wall Lamps in Copper by Hans-Agne Jakobsson, Sweden, 1960s Striking pair of Swedish outdoor wall lamps designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson in the 1960s. Crafted in solid copper, the lamps combine a simple architectural form with the warmth and character of a material that has aged beautifully over time. Each lamp features a broad, gently curved copper shade projecting from a rectangular wall plate. The clean construction gives the design a distinctly Scandinavian character, with carefully considered proportions and very little unnecessary ornamentation. The light source is concealed beneath the shade by a metal diffuser, directing the illumination downward while preventing glare. When lit, the copper surfaces reflect the light with a warm glow, creating an atmospheric pool of illumination against the wall and surrounding area. One of the most appealing features of the pair is the naturally developed patina of the copper. Variations in tone across the surfaces give each lamp an individual character and emphasize the material quality of the design.
