Hans Weingaertner Art

American, German, 1896-1970

Hans Weingaertner was a painter who was born in 1896 in Kraiburg, Germany. He moved to New Jersey later. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and with Ludwig Klein, Moritz Hyman and Angelo Jank. He exhibited at the Society of Independent Artists from 1929–40, British Museum in 1932, New Haven Hospital's Primary Care Center from 1934–39, Traveling Exhibition from 1936–37, Corcoran Biennial in 1939, New Jersey State Museum in 1939, Newark Museum in 1940 and 1944, Carnegie Institution in 1941, VMFA in 1946, Penn State Teachers College in 1944 and 1946 and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1951. He has won numerous prizes and awards for his artworks. Weingaertner was a member of the Society of Independent Artists, New Haven Primary Care Center, New Jersey Alcoholics Anonymous and Audubon Artists. He worked as a teacher at Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art. He died in 1970.
