Good example of a footed enamelled green glass vase by Harrach c1890. The vase is decorated with a piped glass top and fine banding just below -It is finely polychrome enamelled with a cute scene of two birds (possibly blue tits) sitting in blooming branches hungrily watching a butterfly. Harrach has been the backbone of Bohemian, and possibly European, glass for the last 300 years. It proudly celebrated its tri-centenary in 2012. Before Ludwig Moser was allowed to have his own Glassworks he, like almost everyone else in the region, bought his blanks from Harrach. In fact we will probably never know how much glass, supposedly made my other great glass makers of Europe, were in fact made and finished in the Harrach Glassworks including Emile Galle. We do know that vast ranges of Legras was made by Harrach, probably under licence and possibly the majority of the glass we think of as Fratelli Tosso...

Fabulous example of a Green and Opal Orange gilded waterlily cameo vase by Harrach c1900. The vase is actually made of blue glass cased over an opal orange -the blue sitting over the orange appears green -only in the last picture can you see hints of the true blue. Harrach specialised in aquatic scenes on their cameos. This style of Cameo was taken by Harrach to the 1900 Paris exhibition. Their stylized cameo technique employed an icicle effect -visible just below the green band in most of the pictures Harrach has been the backbone of Bohemian, and possibly European, glass for the last 300 years.
