Italian Louis XV style painted bombe cabinet / commode with a marble top, circa 1950.

Rare 18th-century wooden cabinet in the style of Louis XV, fine French manufacture. The cabinet is made entirely of fine dark wood, four legs for support. The two legs at the front are more worked and thin, very important, those at the back have classic square strong dorma. The cabinet is developed in height rather than width. Centrally there is only one door all decorated with sinuous wood inlays and squiggly fretwork, very true to the French Baroque style. At the top we see a semi-curved frieze, which lends even more majesty to the product. Inside, it is all covered with antique pink wallpaper...

Marble panel, over frieze drawer and a large barrier door flanked by corner fittings with acanthus volutes and garlands, with amaranth, bergahorn and colorful fruit wood inlay front and sides with flower head trellis parquet with ebony stringing. These are therefore unique. Beautiful patina, with shellac handpolit. The design of this chest of drawers is based on the original 1778 designed by Jean-Henri Riesener for the Cabinet de retraite of King Louis XVI in the Castle of Fontainebleau, later in the King's bibliothèque in the Château de Versailles.
