Herbert L. Fink Art

American, 1921-2006

Herbert Lewis Fink is a listed landscape and figure artist whose numerous paintings and drawings hang in many museums. He is most recognized for his outstanding etchings. With a BA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from Yale University, Fink served as director of the School of Fine Art and Design at Southern Illinois University.

An illustration for the book "The King's Indian", a collection of short stories by author John Gardner (1933-1982), published in 1973. "Mad Meg" was most likely inspired by a figure from Flemish folklore, Dulle Griet, who led an army of women to pillage Hell.
