Ian Laurie was born in 1933 and is a self-taught artist who made the transition from industry to artistry around 40 years ago, when he and his wife opened a gallery specializing in original, handmade prints by artists working in that medium. His hobby of sketching soon became etching, and it wasn't long before he was producing his limited edition etchings. Gradually his work became known to other galleries, and during the 1970s and 80s, his primary outlets were Liberty of London and the Medici Gallery in London, England. He opened a small gallery in the Cornish artistic community of Newlyn, England, where he continued to produce scenic and figurative etchings, although, in this painterly environment, he also worked with brushes to produce his versions of the Cornish landscape. Laurie's work is well collected and can be seen in many leading galleries.

This artwork titled "Pomegranates" c.1970 is an original color aquatint on Japan paper by noted Indian artist Kaiko Moti, 1921-1989. It is hand signed and numbered XXII/LXXV in White pencil by the artist. The Size is 22 x 29.25 inches. Printed to the edge. About the artist: Born (Kaikobad Motiwalla) in Bombay, India on December 15, 1921, Moti was first educated at the Bombay School of Fine Arts but his talent led him onwards to study at the University College in London (on scholarship) and at the Slade School of Fine Arts, London, where he received a Master's degree in Painting and Sculpture.
