James Webb was a British painter specializing in marine views and landscapes. He lived all his life in Chelsea, London. He exhibited in London at the Royal Academy and the British Institute between 1850–88, and many of his works still hang in London in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate Gallery. Other works are found in a large number of provincial galleries. Webb was a pupil of Clarkson Frederick Stanfield. His father, Archibald Webb, and his brother, Byron Webb, were also notable painters.

Original Oil Painting by the English Artist James R. Webb
By James Webb
Located in Vancouver, British Columbia
An atmospheric oil painting depicting a seaside with sunlit high sand dunes in the forefront and in Stark contrast a dark stormy sky in the background with seagulls overhead. Small sailing ships can be seen in the distance. Climbing the dunes is a shepherdess and her small flock of sheep grazing on meagre offerings along the dunes. A young couple can also be seen sitting on the beach in the background. The painting is in its original carved and gilded frame. Signed James Webb and dated 18_7 on the bottom right hand corner of the canvas. Why the artist omitted the "decade" digit and put an underscore instead is a mystery. The painting is set in an intricately carved gilded frame which has been professionally restored. James R Webb...

Vintage Caribbean Coastal Landscape Oil Painting, Signed, Circa 1970s
Located in Delray Beach, FL
A beautifully rendered vintage Caribbean coastal landscape oil painting depicting a lush tropical landscape framed by towering palms, dense vegetation and distant blue mountains. A warm earthen path winds through the foreground toward an open clearing and small dwelling, giving the composition a wonderful sense of depth and quiet tropical atmosphere. The artist uses rich layers of greens against a soft blue sky and hazy mountainous horizon, with particularly fine detail throughout the palms and foliage. The warm terracotta tones of the path provide a striking contrast to the surrounding vegetation. A serene and highly decorative tropical landscape with a timeless Caribbean character, equally at home in coastal, tropical modern, British Colonial and traditional interiors. Professionally presented in a warm-toned wood frame. Details: • Vintage Caribbean oil painting...
