Doyle Lane Mid-Century Modern Rare Colored Glass Ceramic Pottery Square Form
By Doyle Lane
Located in Studio City, CA
A rare, beautifully designed glass or ceramic form by famed midcentury American artist or potter Doyle Lane. Lane was a glaze specialist much like Glen Lukens and Otto Natzler. His work ranged from beaded necklaces and pendants to small, delicate vases or weed pots to ceramic sculptures, clay paintings, and large scale wall mosaics (including his most well-known work - an 18-foot mosaic or mural known as the orange wall which was commissioned by architect Welton Becket...

Jean Nison Ceramic Tiled Console Shelf by Weiss & Basser
By William Basser, Hans Weiss, Weiss & Basser, Jean Nison
Located in Hanover, MA
Organically shaped wall-mounted floating console table shelf in walnut trim and set with ~130 individual art tiles created by ceramicist Jean Nison (1922-2015). This work was custom made for the 90 Riverside Drive apartment of Jacques and Alina Roisen, circa 1959 together with an architectural sideboard-buffet and a curved wall with floating cabinets which we have listed separately. (ref: LU886622968512 and LU886622682472) and are also decorated with tile murals by Jean Nison. Jean was very experimental with her use of glazes and colors and it took many firings to achieve her desired effect including the many bubbles which give them a rich texture. Her work was exhibited at Gumps, Helena Rubinstein and America House. To obtain commissions she would go around to the offices of architects and decorators and leave samples of her work. It was how Raymond Loewy Associates commissioned her to do a tile wall for the chairman's office in Lever House. It is likely that is how she came to the notice of Hans Weiss...
