Jean Paul Sinibaldi Paintings

French, 1857-1909
Jean Paul SINIBALDI (Paris, 1857 - Bourg-en-Bresse, 1909) Christ and the Samaritan Woman Oil on canvas Signed and dedicated lower right 46 x 38 cm A pupil of Alexandre Cabanel at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris and of the Belgian academic painter Alfred Stevens, Paul Sinibaldi participated in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1882 and until 1905. He was repeatedly awarded: mention honorable in 1886, bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, second class medal in 1898 and silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. He mainly practiced genre painting, historical painting, and portraiture - at the end of his career, more rarely landscape and Symbolist painting. In 1888, he received a travel grant, which he used to make his grand tour of Italy to study the great masters of the Renaissance. Sinibaldi also faced the grand decor by participating in the construction sites of the Hôtel de Ville de Paris and the town hall of Lille (destroyed in 1916) as well as the decoration of the castle of Neuville-sur-Ain, to which he had access on recommendation. of his father-in-law: the departmental architect Tony Ferret. Sinibaldi was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1900. The artist died on January 17, 1909, in Bourg-en-Bresse. Its studio fund was sold at a public sale on May 17, 1909, at the Hôtel Drouot. Museums: Amiens, Gray, Mulhouse, Sète, Budapest, Reims ... The painting is dedicated “A l’ami Pichot”. This is Émile Jules Pichot (1857-1936), history painter, Prix de Rome in 1879, also a pupil of Cabanel at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where the two artists probably met.

Paris, rue des Solitaires, oil painting by Pierre Coquet Reference number F489 The painting is framed with a natural oak floated frame. 65 x 50 cm (70 x 55 cm frame included) This work is painted with oil on a paper that is laid on a board and placed in a made to measure wood strectcher. It is signed in the low right Paris is one of Pierre most important subjects. Pierre's Paris is always depicted in a grey atmosphere. Buildings are stylized but the city is recognizable with its typical grey galvanised steel and orange terracota chimneys. The composition here is a little atypical, as there is a certain symmetry between the top and bottom of the painting. You could almost turn it upside down, there's a kind of mirror effect. The support for the painting is a cardboard box salvaged from the art school where he taught (Corvisart-Paris). The students used it to protect their tables. Pierre kept them and painted on them, and we can see little drawings or annotations made by students who had fun scribbling on them. Provenance : Workshop of the artist (stamped and numbered on the back) About Pierre : Pierre Coquet (1926-2021) is a French painter who was born in Limas near Lyon, France. He entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Lyon in 1942 and followed the teaching of Antoine Chartres, Henri Vielly and René Chancrin...

Yes, Jean Paul Gaultier is French. He was born in Arcueil, a suburb of Paris, in 1952. He didn't have a formal fashion education, but he loved to sketch and was drawn to clothing, citing the corsets in his maternal grandmother's closet as having a formative impact on his creative direction. Yes, Jean Paul Gaultier is a real person. He is a fashion designer who has created wildly provocative, transformational designs for day dresses, gowns, tops and other garments that draw on numerous influences and boldly merge haute couture with street sensibility. Gaultier began his career in 1970 as an assistant to Pierre Cardin, who admired the sketches the 18-year-old had sent for his appraisal. After Gaultier had his first runway show in 1976, featuring unconventional statements like pairing motorcycle jackets with ballerina skirts, it didn’t take long for his star to rise. In addition to designing under his own label, he created costumes for film and stage. He was nominated for a César Award for Best Costume Design for The City of Lost Children (1995) and then a second for Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element (1997). Gaultier presented his last couture show in 2020, ending his boundary-pushing, industry-shaping reign with a raucous presentation of more than 230 outfits formed from fragments of collections from across his 50-year career. On 1stDibs, find a collection of Jean Paul Gaultier apparel and accessories.
