Gilded ceramic decorative wall mirror by François Lembo (circa 1960s-70s). Porthole-shaped ceramic frame embellished with colourful enamelled cabochons in green and black, imitating natural stones. The piece is in overall very good condition. Its appeal and beauty are unquestionable. The reverse side of the piece is intact and also in good condition with a small fitting for wall hanging. This very characterful ceramic would be a conversation piece in any home or work space. Signed on the reverse: 'F. Lembo'. A short video of the piece will be provided upon request.
About the Designer: A native of Vallauris, François Lembo (1930-2013) started his pottery career in 1951 in the workshops of Calva and Rossignol. After his apprenticeship he worked for 3 years in his father-in-law, Marc Roussel's, studio, before opening his own in the famed town of Vallauris, France in 1960. The work of Roussel, influenced by Byzantine art, inspired Lembo to create mirrors, often decorated in the style of Russian icons. He produced a number of religious icons decorated...

Vintage French ceramic decorative bowl with abstract motif attributed to Jean Rivier (circa 1960s). A small, circular shaped bowl / vide-poche of enamel with a modern linear decoration reminiscent of a labyrinth. The subtle yellow backdrop colour contrasts with the chalk-white surround of the bowl's interior and the lustrous chocolate brown edge and exterior. The piece is filled with character and charm. Unsigned but undoubtedly attributable to Rivier. This gallery has another signed piece by this well known ceramicist and the link between the two is unambiguous. In good vintage condition commensurate with age. Please view all accompanying photos to best appreciate the beauty and condition of the piece.
