"Most villages were mostly abandoned, city life was the preference. The few left in the village were very graceful and kind. As I was painting a small crowd gathered to watch. It began to rain. I was kept dry by an umbrella held over me provided by the local people.

"The first morning by the river with Kevin and Wanda Mcpherson, Jason Situ and Andy Evansen. We always gathered a crowd wherever we would go as we were a rarity in Kaiping. Among the onlookers were Mian Situ’s brother, an artist from Canada, who is a cousin to the Situs. The Situ family Museum is across the street from where we were painting."
