Juana Martínez Paintings
Juana Martínez lives in an isolated cabin in the middle of nowhere, the mountainous region of Northeastern Michoacán. Collecting paper scraps and other recycled materials, she began doing artwork “from what comes from within” in 2006; in 2013, she left her job as a nanny in Mexico City and returned to the mountains.
Juana’s work has since been dedicated to visual fields that evoke interior landscapes and a recreation of nature. A descendant of farmers, she is a phenomenon, an artist without academic qualifications. She has produced several successful exhibitions in Mexico City.
