Ermete Lancini
1960 Abstract Painting and Paper Collage Ermete by Ermete Lancini

1960

About the Item

This stunning abstract artwork was made in 1960, by the well known Italian artist Ermete Lancini. The artwork is a painting and a collage with newspaper sheet and other glued elements on the surface and on the back. In effect the back also can be considered a Pop art work, with the sheet of the magazine paper glued on the surface. The paper sheet, the words we can read, elevate those to the role of piece of art. Ermete Lancini was born in Brescia, in 1920. When he was young, he spend many time in Venezia attending his artistic studies at the Venezia Academy. In this period he got in touch with the impressive cultural atmosphere of the lagune, full of artists, men of culture and the ideals of the Italian Avangarde. He was already a painter, but he decided to leave Venezia and to graduate at the Torino University in International Languages. Coming back to Brescia, he continued his artistic path becoming an active members of the Bresciana Avangard and never stop to develop his research in the art. He exhibited his artworks at the XXVII Biennial of Venice in 1954. His artworks are present in many Collections in Italy and abroad. The piece will be delivered with its Certificate of Authenticity.
