Lucien Joseph Simon was a French painter, draftsman, watercolorist and lithographer. He is counted among the Naturalist and Intimate artists of the Post-Impressionism movement. However, he never had anything in common with the artistic currents of his time. Simon was never an Impressionist in the full sense and refused both Cubism and the Dadaist movement. His works are known and exhibited all over the world, such as the Museums of Boston and Philadelphia, the National Museum of Fine Arts of Argentina, private collections in Japan (Matsukata collection), and also various European museums.

This was the last exhibition of Picasso's works before his death in 1973. The drawing of a young woman with an aging artist is typical of Picasso's concern with death towards the end of his life. This lithographic poster was designed to advertise an exhibition of 172 recent drawings by Pablo Picasso at the Galerie Louise Leiris in 1972. Lithography was authorized by Picasso and executed by French artist Henri Deschamps. Signed in the plate by Deschamps lower right. Printed by Mourlot in Paris, under Picasso's supervision, 1972.
