Antique 19th century extremely rare Victorian solid silver "Cellini" pattern large and heavy four piece tea and coffee set, consisting of coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug. The pattern is so called in honor of Benvenuto Cellini, the sculptor and goldsmith of the 16th Century considered by many as the greatest of all time. The set features a chased and embossed decoration of masks, animals, strap-work and flutes, caryatid ornate scroll handles. The teapot and the coffee pot with similarly decorated stepped cover, all on ornate stepped circular bases, inside richly parcel gilt.
Each piece Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1893 (S) and 1894 (T), Maker's mark J.N.M (John Newton Mappin) Mappin & Webb a jewellery company headquartered in the United Kingdom.
