Ulrich Schmitt, born in 1959, studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich (Academy of Fine Arts Munich) where he was a master student of Professor Gerd Winner from 1981-1989. The artist won a DAAD travel scholarship to study for one year under John Hilliard at Camberwell College of Art in London.
