Martin Schefstrom Art
Martin Schefstrom was born April 10, 1926, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Sven and Myrtle (Freeburg) Schefstrom. Schefstrom graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduation. He served on the USS Coos Bay and the USS Gardiners Bay during WWII. Schefstrom worked for 30 years at the Grays Harbor PUD as a journeyman maintenance man, retiring at the age of 49. He then restored a gillnetter and fished the Chehalis. Schefstrom remained active painting in oils, making wind chimes for the Art Co-op in Westport and doing landscaping. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Schefstrom passed away in February of 2013.
