Michael Coleman Art

American, b. 1946
Michael Coleman (b. 1946) born and continuing to live in Provo, Utah, Michael Coleman is a prominent Southwestern landscape painter in a traditional style and is much influenced by 19th-century painters Henry Farny, Thomas Moran and George Inness and by 19th and 20th century animal painter, Carl Rungius. Coleman is known for his landscapes of rich colors in a combination of realism and atmospheric styles, often with animals depicted and the suggestion of natural harmony between the artist, the animal, and the wide world of nature.

MEDIUM: Giclée on Canvas Edition SIZE: 36" x 36" EDITION SIZE: 50 SIGNED: Artist Michael Cole SKU: CP1404DLG ABOUT THE IMAGE: Conceptualized in 1948, Marvin the Martian exists as one of the most popular Looney Tunes characters. The impetus behind Life of Marvin, is the Martian’s anger toward other alien notoriety, while he goes unnoticed for his off-Earth antics. Mediterranean Fishing Boats Beach Catalonia Coastal Impressionist Oil Artist: J. Sureda Lloveras Title: Fishermen Boats on Mediterranean Beach Medium: Oil on panel Period: circa 1945 Movement: Spanish Impressionist School Support: Panel Signature: Signed lower left Condition: Very good condition Framed: No Dimensions: Height: 33 cm (13 in) Width: 41 cm (16.15 in) Origin: Catalonia, Spain Charming Mediterranean coastal scene depicting traditional fishing boats resting on a sunlit Catalonian beach, painted by J. Sureda Lloveras around 1945. The composition captures the quiet poetry of working maritime life along the Spanish coast, with anchored boats, suspended fishing nets and luminous white seaside architecture dissolving into a warm atmospheric horizon. The brushwork is spontaneous yet controlled, combining structural drawing with fresh plein-air sensitivity typical of mid-century Mediterranean impressionist painting. Scenes like this evoke the authentic coastal identity collectors associate with Sitges, Costa Brava and the wider Catalan shoreline during the golden era of Spanish figurative landscape painting. The painting balances decorative harmony with documentary charm, making it equally suitable for collectors of Spanish impressionism and for interiors seeking refined coastal European atmosphere. Small-scale original Mediterranean harbor paintings with strong light and architectural presence are particularly desirable in today’s international interior design market, especially in the United States. A refined and highly displayable example of postwar Catalan coastal painting. This work belongs to the tradition of Mediterranean plein-air painting developed across Catalonia and the Spanish Levante during the first half of the 20th century. Comparable stylistic affinities may be found in the coastal works of: Joaquín Sorolla Eliseu Meifrèn Santiago Rusiñol Hermen Anglada-Camarasa (coastal palette phase) and European maritime painters such as Eugène Boudin Raoul Dufy (coastal compositions) These references position the painting within a broader international impressionist coastal landscape tradition appreciated by collectors worldwide. "Being There" Original Oil Painting by Robert White, Frameless Display

Located in Encino, CA

“Being There,” an original oil on canvas by Robert K. White, is a piece for the true collector. White’s careful attention to detail and vivid use of browns and reds project from the painting, immediately capturing the viewer's attention and highlighting the artist's keen ability to capture emotion and life - all in a brushstroke. White's talent for depicting light and shadow provides the foundation for him to deliver subjects and scenes to the viewer's eye. This masterful work would make a great addition to an art collection and enhance most any home, perfect for those who have an affinity for cityscapes, theater, and architecture. In the artist’s own words, “I don’t paint what is inside of me; I paint what I see outside of me. I’m an observer. If I see something and I feel an affinity for it, something just clicks in my head. I’ll make the decision right then and there to paint that particular subject during that particular moment. It’s a perfect moment. Once something has caught my eye and I’ve heard the “perfect” click, it’s like a photograph has been taken in my mind’s eye. I only have a few days of clarity with that image. I have to start the painting quickly or else it will be gone and I will lose that image forever.” Artist: ROBERT KENNETH WHITE...

Industry and Commerce

Located in Los Angeles, CA

This mural study is part of our exhibition America Coast to Coast: Artists of the 1930s Industry and Commerce, 1936, tempera on panel, 16 ½ x 39 ½ inches, signed verso “John Ballator, Portland Ore.” provenance includes: J.C. Penney Company, represented by Russell Tether Fine Arts Assoc.; presented in a newer wood frame About the Painting Industry and Commerce is a prime example of WPA Era muralism. Like a Mediaeval alter, this mural study is filled with icons, but the images of saints and martyrs are replaced with symbols of America's gospel of prosperity through capitalism. Industry and Commerce has a strong narrative quality with vignettes filling the entire surface. Extraction, logistics, design, power generation, and manufacturing for printing, chemicals, automobiles and metal products are all represented. To eliminate any doubt about the mural's themes, Ballator letters a description into the bottom of the study. Ballator also presents an idealized version of industrial cooperation, as his workers, lab-coated technicians and tie-wearing managers work harmoniously toward a common goal in the tidy and neatly designed environments. Although far from the reality of most industrial spaces, Ballator's study reflects the idealized and morale boosting tone that many mural projects adopted during the Great Depression. About the Artist John R Ballator achieved success as a muralist, lithographer, and teacher during the Great Depression. Born in Oregon, he studied at the Portland Museum Art School, the University of Oregon and at Yale University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Art. In 1936, Ballator was commissioned to paint a mural panel for the new Department of Justice Building in Washington DC, an important project that spanned five years with several dozen artists contributing a total of sixty-eight designs. Ballator completed murals for the St. Johns Post Office and Franklin High School, both in Portland, Oregon. He also contributed to the 1938 murals at Nathan Hale School in New Haven, Connecticut. During the late 1930s, Ballator taught art for several years at Washburn College in Topeka, Kanas, where he completed a mural for the Menninger Arts & Craft Shop before accepting a professorship at Hollins College...
