Michael Gadlin Figurative Paintings

American
Typified by arresting powers of visual imagery and spatial sophistication, Michael Gadlin’s artistry is an increasingly recognized phenomenon in the art world. Rimmed in spontaneity, his 15-year repertoire expresses a singular uninterrupted brush stroke of Mediterranean, European and Western influences. Pushing the boundaries of contemporary art form, Michael’s work epitomizes avant-garde. Those who experience Michael’s work often discover an ethereal essence captured that defies explanation. From his early years of surrealistic impressionism until now, Michael’s work reflects an improvisational inventiveness that has garnered a loyal following among the art elite. His artistic conviction that “Direct expressionism is the most meaningful reflection of life” has prompted the evolution of an extremely cogent and intriguing portfolio of 21st century art. Exhibiting in select galleries and museums nationwide, Michael has been commissioned by governments, Fortune 100 corporations and private collectors, and has been exuberantly heralded in the press. Born in Denver, Colorado, Michael has been exhibiting work throughout the United States and most recently in France. As a young artist Michael studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League of Denver. He would later attended Pratt Institute in New York right after graduating high school. Early on he focused his discipline on classical drawing and painting, later emphasizing his studies in abstract concepts in contemporary art. At the same time, while still in New York, Michael further developed his affinity for design and art history by taking courses to deepen his knowledge and become more well-rounded in his practice of contemporary art. In 1999 Michael was the youngest artist ever to win Best Of Show at Denver’s nationally renowned Cherry Creek Arts Festival. The Vance Kirkland Museum acquired a work of his as part of their permanent collection. Michael’s well-received public art installation, commissioned by The City of Denver, hangs permanently in Denver’s District 2 Police Station. The Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art selected Michael to be included in the museum’s Rocky Mountain Biennial. Michael has recently exhibited in Denver, Aspen, Vail, Telluride and France.

John Randall Nelson is an Arizona-based painter and sculptor. Nelson’s works are layered with his own personal language consisting of patterns, symbols, and archetypes that may not make any literal sense but play on subconscious associations. His paintings are thick with poured pigment, saturated washes and worked with layers of drawing and collage. While Nelson's work is akin to outsider, folk art, it should be noted that he received his MFA from Arizona State University in 1995 and has completed commissions for projects as diverse as the National Endowment for the Arts, the United States Postal Service...
