Mike Ibbotson Art

Mike Ibbotson, being a landscape designer, is inspired by hilly and mountainous landscapes. This aspect of his life is highly influential to his painting style which originates from an approach to the observation that is personally philosophical by creating rough sketches that depict both the space around him as well as the subject matter that it holds. His work is vibrant and he characteristically effortlessly utilizes loose brushstrokes. Ibbotson works quickly, producing an organic drawing of what he sees as opposed to a stylized finish. He has exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists and was awarded the ‘Best work on Paper’ prize by them. Ibbotson has also shown in the “Open Prize Exhibition” in the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
