Mirko Baricchi (born 1970) is an accomplished Italian painter who currently lives and works between Vicenza and La Spezia, regions located in Veneto and Liguria, Italy, respectively. After graduating from the prestigious Palazzo Spinelli Art Institute of Art and Restoration in Florence, Baricchi embarked on a professional career as an illustrator in Mexico City. This international experience enriched his artistic perspective before he returned to Italy in the late 1990s with a resolute intention to devote himself exclusively to painting.
Baricchi’s most recent body of work is distinguished by a methodical and insistent series of procedures, carefully measured through rapid actions of applying and removing paint. This technique grants him the greatest freedom in both composition and subject matter, resulting in pieces where only minimal traces of figurative stylistic features remain. His approach emphasizes spontaneity, abstraction, and the dynamic tension between presence and absence, allowing viewers to engage deeply with the process and materiality of painting.
Throughout his career, Baricchi has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, gaining recognition within the contemporary art scene. His works have been acquired by several prominent institutions and collections, including CAMeC, the Center for Modern and Contemporary Art in La Spezia; the Battolini Collection, also in La Spezia; the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della Spezia; the BoCs Art Museum in Cosenza; and the Civic Collection of Drawing housed at MuSa, the Museum of Salò in Brescia.
Baricchi’s art reflects a profound commitment to exploring the boundaries of pictorial language, balancing controlled technique with expressive freedom. His work continues to contribute to contemporary Italian art through its innovative process and compelling visual language.to

Sailing into the Sun is an abstract landscape painting. It is oil on canvas. It is gallery wrapped so there is no need for a frame.
On a summer morning in 1993 a 22 years old young came to Florida from a small old town in the central area of Cuba called Santa Clara. In his bag, he brought no more than two valuable things, his worn-out brushes and a great dream. The dream to one day become a professional artist in this new land that welcomed him with open arms.
Captivated by his love for the beauty of the Landscapes, his last works are what he sees even in the most common scenes: the close relationship of life and who we are with the natural world around us that asks us to respect and care for it.
Artist Statement:
" I like to scrutinize in the simple things, sometimes it is there where the lost painting is waiting to be found by the painter's eyes.
The landscape painting gives me the opportunity to establish a close relationship with the natural world and humbly capture on a canvas a little of its beauty listening to its voice that reminds us how valuable we are and how much we should love it".
