Questions About Moncler

• Is Moncler French or Italian?

  1 Answer
  1stDibs ExpertAugust 8, 2024

Moncler is Italian, not French. However, this was not always the case. René Ramillon and André Vincent founded the luxury fashion label in Monestier-de-Clermont, France, in 1952. However, in 2003, Remo Ruffini purchased the then-struggling company and subsequently moved its headquarters to Milan, Italy, where they remain today. To tell if a Moncler is real, look for the duck cartoon inside. All authentic Moncler jackets feature one of these charming cartoons, and counterfeiters often fail to copy this detail accurately. As a result, you can often spot a fake by comparing the graphics to those displayed in images of authentic labeling published on trusted online resources. If you need further assistance, seek the opinion of a certified appraiser or other knowledgeable expert. Shop a variety of Moncler outerwear on 1stDibs.

• Is Moncler fake fur?

  1 Answer
  1stDibs ExpertNovember 13, 2024

Whether Montcler fur is fake depends on the age of the piece. Starting with its Moncler's Fall/Winter 2023 collection, which was made available for sale in 2024, all Montcler outerwear and accessories feature faux fur. With older pieces, the fur may be real or fake. However, the care tags inside the lining will specify what type of trim a particular piece has. On 1stDibs, shop a variety of Montcler outerwear.

• How do you spot a fake Moncler jacket?

  1 Answer
  1stDibs ExpertSeptember 23, 2024

To spot a fake Moncler jacket, unzip it and look inside for a tag that bears a duck comic. Moncler is famous for this whimsical tag, which consists of eight panels. Counterfeiters often make errors when reproducing the duck comic label, so by comparing the tag in a jacket to images of authentic pieces shared on trusted online resources, you may be able to spot a replica quickly. Also, examine the hardware and stitching. Moncler jackets are usually free of defects, such as uneven stitching and difficult-to-operate zippers. As a result, noticeable flaws will usually indicate that a piece is fake. For help with the authentication process, consult a certified appraiser or other knowledgeable expert. To tell if a Moncler jacket is real, first look inside for a tag with a QR code. The Italian luxury fashion house introduced QR code technology in 2013, making it easy for you to verify authenticity. Simply visit the brand's official website to scan the code and learn more about the jacket. For older pieces, search the left side of the lining for the care instructions. It will be in the form of an eight-panel cartoon. You can find images of the cartoon using trusted online sources and compare the artwork in your jacket to that of an authentic piece.
