Rare Rene Lalique clear glass square Perles table panel 1934. As well as the usual Vases, Bowls, tableware, car mascots etc Rene Lalique made Architectural Installations -some of the more famous of these went into Churches, but he designed a wide range of glass panels for rooms, walls, tables etc. These were not for sale as individual items and could only be acquired as part of an installation. One of the rarest Galle images the Bretton Fishing Fleet cameo vase -depicting a flotilla of manned fishing boats of many sizes and designs and incredible detail many with sails up and many with just rigging. Signed, intaglio cut, Provost MkVI c1925-36 -see 4th image and chart at end for dating. This an absolute tour-de-force of the cameo technique -partly done by acid cut back, but most of the fine outline work (rigging etc) is done by fine wheel cutting. Murano Glass is a world-famous excellence. Not everyone, though, knows Finnish Glass – an equally refined, and possibly less common niche of blown and moulded vases and sculptures.
