NEIL LEIFER’s photography career has spanned over 50 years since becoming a professional while still in his teens. Beginning in 1960, his pictures regularly appeared in every major national magazine, including the Saturday Evening Post, Look, LIFE, Newsweek, Time and, most often, Sports Illustrated. Leifer eventually became a staff photographer for Sports Illustrated before leaving in 1978 to become a staffer for Time magazine. In 1988 he was made a contributing photographer at LIFE magazine and spent the next two years dividing his time between Time and LIFE. When Leifer left Time Inc. in 1990, his photographs had appeared on over 200 Sports Illustrated, Time, and People covers—at that point, the most ever published of one photographer’s work in Time Inc. history. Neil Leifer is the 2006 recipient of the prestigious Lucie Award for Achievement in Sports Photography. In 2008 he was honored for his outstanding contribution to Time Inc. journalism with The Britton Hadden Lifetime Achievement Award. Leifer has published 16 books, 9 of which have been collections of his sports photographs. Sports, his 1978 Abrams book, is considered by many to be the quintessential sports photography book. His two most recent, Ballet in the Dirt and Guts and Glory—both published by TASCHEN, showcase the very best of Leifer’s professional baseball and football photographs...

'Towards Your Heart' Limited edition archival photographic triptych. Unframed, hand signed and numbered (Edition number 3 of 25) _________________ It is not the size Nor power from which you fly But towards your heart The wild Atlantic explodes in raw abandon, given scale in this daring dance by the graceful flight of the sea bird. Sophia's poetic photographs are an exploration of the balance in all things: in the sensual interplay of light and shadow; in wild raw energy and serene stillness; in chaos and harmony; in the enduring and the effervescent. They are a contemplation of the awareness that everything in existence is temporary, they speak of the ephemeral nature of all things. Moments, feelings, experiences cherished and appreciated in their impermanence, for that is where the beauty comes from. 'I work in a balancing act of control and freedom; of discipline and guidance, whilst simultaneously relinquishing all authority and throwing the odds to the winds, to chance encounters and the unexpected'. Photographic triptych: each of three parts measuring 30 x 20 inches. Each printing is bespoke to order and can be printed on a single paper 30 x 60 inches. Please contact me for further information, or send a message with your order. Limited edition of 25 Archival Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® paper, one of the most beautiful and high quality art papers available. The luxurious matt finish provides a reflection free image that is rich in detail, depth and tone. Hand signed, titled and numbered to the lower right corner on an approximately 1 inch white border. Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity featuring a signature and edition number. Muhammad Ali

Located in Toronto, Ontario

Neil Leifer fell in love with photography as a teenager growing up in New York City. From the beginning his focus was on athletes and sporting events. Today he is credited with over 160 covers for Sports Illustrated. His dynamic photographs have also graced the pages of Time, LIFE, and countless other American publications. This photograph is one of Leifer's most iconic images. Here Mohammad Ali swings his glove in victory as he knocks his opponent Sonny Liston to the boxing ring floor. This legendary image was captured during the 1965 World Heavyweight Title championship. The dramatic lighting and captivated crowd make the image appear hyper-real and almost cinematic. Leifer captures every detail, from the open-mouth expressions of the audience to the signature embroidery on Liston’s boxing shorts...
