Nicolas Touissaint Charlet Art
French, 1792-1845
Nicolas Toussaint Charlet was one of the pupils of Antoine-Jean Gros and he was best known for his historical episodes, the Napoleon style and rise. His masterpiece is The retreat of Russia realized in 1836, at the Musée des Beaux-Art of Lion and the painting was admired by Eugène Delacroix. Théodore Géricault taught Charlet to realize lithograph and colored impressions.
