Stunning Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern easy chair designed by the Danish legend Hans Wegner in 1949, and put in production in 1986 by PP Mobler. The made to order hoop lounge chair features a net of pleated flag line with stainless steel clips, a soaped oak wood frame and removable seat and headrest cushions upholstered in the original fabric. Although the lounge chair is light, it also has casters on the back legs to facilitate moving it around. Bears original manufacturer's mark. Casters are marked "Scancastor Pat. App. Made in Denmark." To Wegner, the circle was the most simple and elegant of all shapes, and he didn't complete the design of the Circle Chair until he was 72 years old. With a frame made of solid stainless steel, 240 metres specially developed flag line forming the seat and back, and a longhaired sheepskin softening the Industrial sharpness of the steel, this chair constitutes ultimate and luxurious relaxation. Although the appearance of the Flag Halyard Chair seems rather futuristic, the basic idea was conceived on a hot summer afternoon in rather trivial circumstances. While the kids were playing in the shallow waters along the beach, Wegner was digging himself into the sand building a comfortable chair to enjoy the holidays.
